Here is a snippet of what John F. Kennedy spoke to the nation back in 1961:

First, I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth.

JFK May 25, 1961

Clear, concise, and to the point. It was bold. Very bold – maybe even a bit crazy, but it was memorable and inspiring. Now, had JFK been a modern day CEO it could have went very different. The Heath brothers have an amusing take on how it could have went down:

Our mission is to become the international leader in the space industry through maximum team-centered innovation and strategically targeted aerospace initiatives.

Made to Stick on JFK as a modern day CEO

Not quite as powerful, huh? It’s actually a bit difficult to even understand what the hell that means. Now, I don’t expect every tech CEO out there to be able to speak as well as one of our most charismatic presidents, but if they could just stop using all those bullshit buzzwords it would be a nice start.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to iterating visionary systems and orchestrating turn-key infrastructures.
